Thursday was the first cable show taping of Metro Minutes for the semester. Needless to say, everyone was pretty anxious. Everybody was on top of their tasks and wanted to get everything as close to perfect as possible. We all wanted a good show.
For the first time since the beginning of the semester, the producers were ahead of the curve. The producers got most of the stories into the run down earlier than usual and in return, the anchors got their scripts a little earlier. The anchors were able to read through the scripts a few times before we started rolling.
All of the producers ran around trying to get things in order, making sure we didn’t leave anything out and that the show would run as smoothly as possible. I’d say the anchors asked more questions than ever on Thursday, because they too wanted to have a smooth show.
With everybody on edge, everything was fast paced. I loved every minute of it. It also felt good to have my package go into the show. It really is rewarding to see the final product after working on a project and dedicating time towards it.
I think the producers and reporters realized we need to work to our optimum every week whether the show is going on cable or not – because the show was good. The show was like butter – each story flowed right into the next one.
Taping the cable show made me realize that as much as the producers and reporters have class in different rooms and we only come together for a certain amount of time each Thursday, our interaction is important. The way we work together makes a difference in the outcome of every Metro Minutes show.
We just need to challenge ourselves and put forth 100 percent so we can put on a great show every week.
