Easier with Time

Since taping the cable show, everything has been a little bit easier…and faster. Taping the cable show changed the pace for Metro Minutes. From how fast the producers made the final run down of last week’s show, to how fast scripts were printed and put into the anchors hands; it all helped in pressing record button sooner than usual.

Last week was the first show after the cable show. Everybody knew we had a tough act to follow so the stakes were still high. There were producers running to the reporter’s classroom to ask questions, there were reporters coming to the producer’s classroom to do the same. Others were putting their final touches on their packages or were figuring out what they were going to say on-air.

The organized chaos worked well again as last week’s show was close to perfect. We were done taping close to an hour and a half – the quickest we’ve ever taped a show this semester. There weren’t many technical issues or retakes as the other shows, which made taping go even faster. Some people don’t realize how much goes into producing and taping a show. For us to have done it all so fast unintentionally, and it be so well put together, it was major accomplishment.

Simply, everybody was on top of it. Hopefully, we can do this every week from here on out.
